Hey, how you doing?

ALL ‘GOOD’ WE HOPE!

Do you remember being a ‘lil nipper?’

Endlessly curious about the world?

You’d tug on your mom’s skirt and ask, “Mummy, why is the sky blue?” or tap your dad’s shoulder and say, “Daddy, why do birds fly?”

Back then, asking questions was second nature.

What happened?

Somewhere along the way, many of us stopped asking, “WHY?”

Let me take you back for a second…

Three Examples of Inquisitive Childhood

1. The Curious Scientist:

“Mummy, why do stars twinkle?”

Here we have a ‘lil’ question about light refraction.

But instead of getting a detailed answer, you might hear:

“Because they just do. Now go play!”

    2. The Budding Philosopher:

“Daddy, why does that man look sad?”

Instead of being encouraged to OVER-stand empathy, you might’ve been told:

“Don’t stare. Be quiet!”

 3. The Raw Observer:

“Mummy, why does that lady have a funny mark on her face?”

Instead of a discussion on health or beauty, you got a stern:

“Hush now! Don’t ask such questions!”

What happened next?

Those innocent “WHYS” faded into silence.

Why does this happen?

GREAT QUESTION.

Adults discourage their offspring from asking questions for a few reasons:

1. Embarrassment: They don’t want their son or daughter to seem rude.

2. Lack of KnowledgeThey don’t know the answer themselves and don’t want to admit it.

3. Social Conditioning: Many were raised to suppress curiosity, mistaking it for defiance.

Here’s the problem,

When we shush kids, we discourage their ability to SEEK TRUTH.

We teach them it’s better to stay quiet than to know.

Why This Practice Must Stop

Think about this logically.

Every breakthrough, every piece of wisdom, every technological marvel exists because someone had the courage to ask, “WHY?”

Youngsters are naturally inclined to learn, explore, and grow.

If we suppress that, we’re not raising thinkers; we’re raising followers.

In a world that thrives on innovation, followers get left behind.

Three Reasons to Encourage Questions

  1. Truth and Honesty:

A minor asking, “Why is that person angry?” isn’t being rude; they’re trying to OVER-stand emotions.

Encouraging this helps them develop empathy, logic, and sound reasoning.

2. Confidence and Curiosity:

Youngsters who feel free to ask questions grow up believing their voice matters.

They’re more likely to challenge assumptions and think critically.

3. Wisdom and OVER-standing:

When minors are guided toward answers, they develop knowledge that goes beyond memorisation.

They learn to connect dots and apply concepts in real life.

The Path to Right Knowledge, Wisdom, and OVER-standing

true learning comes from a process:

1. Knowledge: Asking questions to gather facts.

2. Wisdom: Applying those facts thoughtfully.

 3. OVER-standing: Seeing the bigger picture with clarity and insight.

This is how we move from information to logic and sound right reasoning.

How to Rebuild the Habit

 1. Encourage Exploration:

When a minor asks a question, don’t dismiss it even if it’s awkward.

Say:

“That’s a great question! Let’s find out together.”

 2. Create a Safe Space for Inquiry:

Reassure them it’s okay to ask anything.

You’re shaping a fearless thinker who won’t shy away from tough truths.

3. Model the Practice Yourself:

If you don’t know something, say, “I don’t know, but I’m curious now! Let’s figure it out.”

This shows them that learning never stops.

YOU SEE, Questions Lead to Mastery.

The greatest thinkers, Edward Leedskalnin, Tesla, Dr. Malachi Z. York, etc.

Didn’t accept what they were told.

They asked “Why?” again and again until they uncovered deep truths.

If we want our children to thrive, they must ask, seek, and challenge.

This is how they move toward right knowledge, wisdom, and sound reasoning.

Building a foundation for logic and clear thought.

…SO…

The next time a minor tugs at your sleeve with a “WHY,” don’t shush them.

Engage them.

Because their next question might be the one that changes everything.

To truth and OVER-standing.
